Tips for Purchasing Diamonds

Misconception when purchasing diamonds 1: purchasing diamond is to retain value.
Diamonds are for displaying and not stored like gold bullion. Purchasing jewellery is to demonstrate beauty and not for reselling for money over a day or two. The market affects 0.2 carat diamonds or below heavily and cannot retain value well. To retain value, need to purchase diamond of higher carat, 0.5 or above are good choices.

Misconception when purchasing diamonds 2: A diamond’s glamour comes from its colour
A diamond’s glamour comes from the cutting. Place a few diamonds together, the one that shines most has the best cutting.

Misconception when purchasing diamonds 3: must be VS high clarity when purchasing diamond
The clarity is determined by the professional under the microscope, based on the amount of diamond inclusions. Most of the diamonds in jewellery stores are above SI, which means “no flaws under the naked eye”. The inclusions are natural marks retained during the formation of the diamond. It does not affect the beauty and durability of the diamond (diamonds above SI, the naked eye cannot see the inclusions), which in turn makes the diamond demonstrate more character. Even if you have a slightly lower grade I class diamond, you can still display it in front of others. No one will chase you around with a magnifying glass to confirm the clarity of the diamond.

Misconception when purchasing diamonds 4: I colour diamonds are the most beautiful.
The chromaticity is graded by a professional under the special lighting conditions of the identification room. It’s hard to say that a diamond of I colour is more beautiful than a diamond of J, depending on the cut, weight and clarity. Some personality-conscious costumers prefer to buy lower-coloured, carat-heavy diamonds because the natural colour of the diamond is difficult to distinguish under normal lighting.

After reading the above four misconceptions, everyone should pay attention when purchasing diamonds. I hope everyone can buy the diamonds they like. If you are interested, you can go visit our branches of Manfook Jewellery and our colleagues will provide some professional advice for you.
